“The LORD is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation.” - Psalm 118:14

“He is my strength and song.”  Miriam sang these words after the triumphant crossing of the Red Sea over Pharaoh and his men in the Exodus.  The Lord in His great mercy was the Israelites strength, joy and salvation.

In our verse, the psalmist in times of trouble was surrounded by the nations and pens these same words knowing the power of victory comes from God alone.

Will we meditate on these same words when struggles seem to surround us?

The Lord alone is our strength, our refuge.  He provides our every need and only in Him are we satisfied.

The Lord is our song, our joy and happiness.  We find purpose and life only in Him.

God is our salvation and deliverance.  The One we trust to rescue us and give us rest. 

When troubles come and hope seems lost, we often detach from God and seek things of this world or become numb and hide within ourselves.  But be reminded of this verse. Grab a hold of this truth.  He alone is our strength, our song and joy.  He alone will rescue us and deliver us to true freedom.  He is the only road to salvation.
