In The Silence - Zechariah
Luke 1:20 - “And now you will be silent and not able to speak until the day this happens, because you did not believe my words, which will come true at their appointed time.”
I always saw Zechariah’s loss of voice as a punishment. But a sermon I recently listened to opened my eyes to another possibility. What if there was a greater purpose to his silence? What if he was made silent to take notice of what God was up to? What if in his silence he finally took time to reflect on what God was doing? To meditate on God’s word and see prophesy fulfilled. Maybe it was still a punishment. But what if it was more. More about the forming.
The sermon also shared this quote, “silence reveals what busyness conceals.” (Carrington Moore)
What is God trying to reveal to you today?
