Isaiah 41:10 - The Message Translation

Isaiah 41:10 has always been a favorite bible verse of mine. It’s one of the very first bible verses I memorized on my own. There is something reassuring and empowering about it. “Do not fear, I am with you. Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my right hand.” It has this way of calming my soul yet sets my heart on fire.

Then just recently I read this verse in the message translation and the first two sentences made me stop and really rest in it.

I’ve picked you.

I haven’t dropped you.

I’ve been taught ever since I was little that' I’ve been chosen by God and He’s adopted me into His family. I’m His daughter. I’ve always known the value of that. But there was something so pointed and humbling when reading it in this verse. The God of the Universe, Creator of all, coming down beside me, whispering,

“You’re mine. I’ve got you,

I won’t let you drop.

My strength is your strength.

I’m not letting go.”

We might fall and stumble but His hand is still holding. His presence still reassuring. He hasn’t ever let go. Even when we've tried to let go a thousand times, living our own way, He still holds firm. He continuously picks us and loves us.
