A verse that always hits home. A verse that challenges me always to act on my love and not just think it. So many times we have these great ideas to help someone out. To lift them up. Then life happens and we drop the ball. It's almost annoying how much it happens to me.

1 John 3:18 - Dear children, let's not merely say we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions.

John tells us here that truth is love. He reiterates over and over again how Jesus instructed us to go out and show love, to be love. He even put some hard hitting verses around this powerful one to motivate us. Because really, we all need a little motivation to go out and show truth, to go out and love.

Verse 19 - our actions will show that we belong to the truth, so we will be confident when we stand before God.

And verse 16 - we know what real love is because Jesus gave up his life for us. So we also ought to give up our life for our brothers and sisters.

So here is my challenge and my challenge for you. Go out and live in his truth, act out his love.
