Be The Good. God put Romans 12:21 on my heart the instant I read it. I thought I would share my thoughts. The inspiration behind these scripture tanks specific to the ones below.
Don't let evil conquer you, but conquer evil by doing good. - Romans 12:21
There is more to this verse. There is a chapter instructing us on what good we can do. The type of good that is God honoring. I encourage you to read chapter 12 in Romans. I love how my Bible sections it out and labels it. "How to behave" this whole section beyond just chapter 12 is Paul giving the Roman Christians (bc that is who he is writing to) guidelines for living as redeemed people in a fallen world.
This verse, chapter, section is so applicable to us today. Actually most of the bible is we just have to dig into each verse and find the meaning. But here, Paul puts it out there for us. It's how we can live out our faith each day impacting those around us. Most of us aren't preachers and sharing God's word is daunting. But living out our personal responsibilities for God's kingdom, showing our faith at work, we can all do.
So what does he say:
- Use are talents we were blessed with
- Don't pretend to love others, really love them
- Hate wrong, hold onto the right
- Love with genuine affection
- Honor others
- Never be lazy, work hard and enthusiastically for the Lord
- Rejoice in our hope
- Be patient in troubles
- Be eager to practice hospitality
- Bless those who persecute us, never curse
- Be happy with others, weep with others
- Live in harmony
- Don't be proud
- Be humble
- Don't take revenge
- Live in peace
Basically "don't let evil conquer you, but conquer evil by doing good" the good that we listed above.
Challenging myself to live out his goodness,
