Hey Friends! If you are like me, you are trying to figure out how to navigate the new temporary normal with kids. I have three kids, two in school. A 2nd grader and a Kindergartner. Most of our days are out doing different activities like legos, building train tracks, baking, drawing and crafts like art hub for kids, exploring outside, playing the yard game - bags, which by the way works great for math for my Kindergartner, and so much more.
But there is a point in the day where I want them to sit down formally and do some writing with them. It doesn’t have to be long, just a quick 15 minutes session to keep up our writing skills. I also wanted to make it fun. I went searching Pinterest but everything I found was too much work to put together. Either too much prep on my end or too much ink and wasted paper, I just wanted a simple sheet. So I made it my challenge to create my own including memory verses. I mean we are a Christian company with deep scripture roots so it naturally made sense. Plus bible memorization has been on our to do list for some time but we’ve never tackled it!
This is our first worksheet with one of our favorite Easter Bible verse. While this worksheet is geared for my 2nd grader and Kindergarten, you can also use this as a way to help your older memorize scripture. The goal of these worksheets is Bible Memorization while integrating writing and reading. I tested it out on my 2nd grader. After she finished in just 15 minutes she asked for another! She even had the bible verse memorized. #score
What’s included in the worksheet:
a short memory verse for children to memorize
a section to rewrite the bible verse, work on handwriting
a flash card cut out to memorize
a word scramble for reading and fun game to put the words in order
We also suggest having your older children open up the bible and read the passage if they finish before younger siblings. Talk about it. Ask questions. Or just simply do the worksheet.
Then keep your flash cards at the dinner table and go over each night.
We’ll be posting more worksheets here tomorrow and throughout the week and so on. This is just the first. We’d love feedback! Give us ideas and comment below.
