freedom in Christ - tee
“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free…” - Galations 5:1
For context: After the apostle Paul found the church in Galatia and left, a group of Jewish christians came in telling the non-jews or Gentiles that they still had to live under the law of the Torah and practice their ways. This made Paul extremely upset and brokenhearted and this letter to the Galatian church is a result.
Paul argues that we now live free in the spirit of God and the Holy Spirit now convicts us of our right and wrong like the Torah did. It’s not what we do that draws us closer to God it’s who we believe in. We as believers are no longer bound to the Torah’s ways, the endless rules and laws, the long list of requirements. Christ set us free fulfilling each law and we now live free in Him.
There is nothing we can do to make ourselves free. It is a gift from God. He freely gives it to us and we receive it by our faith in him. You cannot earn your way. You will never be “good enough.” You only need to walk in freedom with Him.
