be kind, tenderhearted, forgiving - tee
Why on Sale? Wrong verse reference. It’s printed as 2 Corinthians but should say Ephesians 4:32. Enjoy our mistake!
“Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.” - Ephesians 4:32
The Apostle Paul is writing this letter to the church of Ephesus. He splits the letter into two halves. The first half he is explaining the Gospel story in hopes they understand the depth of love Christ has for his people. In the second half Paul is urging how the church should live in light of the gospel story. Essentially challenging them to respond with their lives.
Our verse comes after Paul compares the old and new. Once we give our life to Christ we are to throw away our old life of lies, anger, selfish etc like an old pair of clothes and put on our new life with Christ - truth, peace, elevating others and more. The old is gone and the new is here and the new life is full of kindness, tenderheartedness and forgiveness. The new is the image of God and we are being transformed to be like him. We do as He did. We do because He did it for us first.
Our prayer is that this verse reminds us to understand the gospel story and let it reshape our lives. To live in light of what God has done for us. To respond to His goodness and mercy and be that for others.
