“And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” Colossians 3:17
Colossians 3 is a beautiful chapter of what it means to say yes to God. What it means to leave our past and turn to our future with Christ. We are to be renewed completely in action, words and thoughts. Our intentions and purpose shift from the world to living a life for Christ.
Throughout the chapter the apostle Paul instructs certain “behaviors” but here in our verse he culminates with – just do it all in His name. Whatever you do in word, in deed or action, do it all in His name. Do it all as if you are working for the Lord. Give your best to Him. Live as a representative; bring honor and glory to His name in every aspect of your daily living. When people see you, they should see the likeness of the Lord. In the happy and joyful seasons of life full of blessings they should see God in you. In the trials and difficulties of life, in the wanderings and waiting they should see Christ.
Whatever you do. In everything you say… remember this life is lived all in for Him.
