psalm 73:26 - tee
Psalm 73:26 - “my flesh and my heart my fail, but God’s the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”
This psalm is written by the prophet Asaph who was in charge of the temple choir in the time of King David and Solomon. He questions in this psalm what we often question yet today. We know God is good but why is he so good to the wicked? Why do the wicked prosper? Why is ungodliness rewarded? Why does God not stop the evil if he is in control?
While these questions are not answered in this psalm we often go through this same thought pattern as Asaph. But may we also be like Asaph as we confess to the Lord that His way is a new perspective and we can understand that and ask for guidance to rest in the peace of God’s way. We continually look to the heavenly hope that the Lord provides, that His way is better, and one day we will be rewarded as will the fate of the wicked.
Remembering that hope in the everyday can be hard so we rest in Asaph’s confession. My flesh and my heart fail; but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever . We will fall back into questioning but may we rest in the strength of God’s character knowing all we need is Him and that will last forever.
