“Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.” - Colossians 3:1-2

When we say yes to Christ, yes to His way, His desires, we start saying no to this world. The Apostle Paul in Colossians 3 writes about Christian behavior and the reality of “putting of our old self” meaning we turn from this earthly nature of sin and put on our new self of Christ, setting our desires and thoughts to be like Jesus. We now think beyond worldly measures and set our sights on heavenly or eternal perspectives. We long for more than this world has to offer. We talk and act and think with heaven in mind. We live in the temporary for the eternal. This shapes how we treat people, set our goals, and climb the ladder of success. While the rewards of this world can be good, they are nothing compared to what heaven and eternity has to offer so we set our mind on the things above.
