At His Feet - Like Mary

I don’t always have complete blog posts and devotions on my writer’s fingertips but just little thoughts and notes.  For example, I love reading about Mary, as in the Mary of the Martha and Mary sisters, and the sister of Lazarus. Mary challenges me greatly because she’s often the very opposite of what I tend to be.  When we read about her, she is often just taking in life around her.  She observes, listens and expresses herself deeply.  It’s as if life slows down around her and she truly feels. 

And while I try to stand tall and firm in my faith, she surrenders and humbles herself at His feet.

·         In Luke 10:39 she is sitting at the feet of Jesus and learning.

·         In John 11:32 she is falling at the feet of Jesus and expressing her faith and her heart.

·         In John 12:3 she is anointing the feet of Jesus, putting herself out there if full devotion, honoring her Messiah.

Her deep devotion and love can encourage and challenge us.  So my thought for you and challenge to myself:  sit at His feet learning, expressing and honoring the Father.

Be a Mary.
