Week 1 - Be His Good Challenge

#BeHisGood

It's week one of our Be His Good Challenge!  Thank you for joining us.  Up first on our list to reach out to and thank with a simple act of kindess is your local Florist!

I love this time of year with all the fresh flowers and greenery, be it the outdoor nursery or your local flower shops.  If my husband weren't allergic to bees and my thumb was green and not brown, my yard would be filled with flowers.  So this week we want to send back the love to you local florists and nursery and greenhouse gurus.

A Flower.   Do one of these beautiful flowers or create a version or even a whole bouquet.  Use any supplies you want or follow the instructions listed below the photos in the link.  Also take this time to explain all the care that goes into flowers that these beautiful people do every day to your children.  Explain that plants need water, soil and sun.  By the end of this craft,  you'll be able to home-school your children!  (just kidding)

You can take it a step further and even explain that they have the ability to plant a seed for God in others by sharing the Gospel and who Jesus is!  Then along the way it is up to God to put others in their life to water and help it grow.  However if you are like my family, mad chaos happens with the glue, scissors and markets and any plans to enlighten or educate the children quickly goes out the window.

Challenge:

After the project is finished, write a simple thank you whether on the back of the artwork or a separate card. Find your local nursery or flower shop and hand off your beautiful artwork.

Then spread the word!

Take a photo and post on Facebook or instagram and use the #BeHisGood or feel free to email me and I’ll post for you ;) carly@sixnotesclothing.com .  Then encourage others to join you in saying thank you to their local flower shops and nurseries for all that they do in providing us smiles with fresh flowers.  Am I not right ladies... if a husband brings home flowers... you instantly smile and love him a bit more.

Thank you for joining my children and I this week in being His good

Not a flower fan?  here are additional ideas:
City Bus Drivers, Pediatricians, Nurses, Bus Boys, Waitresses, Construction Workers,  Neighbors, your neighbor’s dog.  Think anyone people…

Not feelin’ crafty:
buy donuts, bake cookies, color a picture (we hold on to old coloring pictures and send out sometimes!) pay for the people behind you in the drive thru… or just buy a $5 gift card!  Options are endless.  There is no bad way to thank a person.  (I guess if you get technical there is)

Be His Good Challenge is BACK!!! Starts Monday.

If you did the Be His Good Challenge with us last year, welcome back!  We start Monday!!  If not... keep reading.

I've always wanted to inspire others with my Scripture Apparel whether it's to be a person of grace, who speaks and shows truth, a person who can be still in his presence yet stand firm in his truth, one who lives courageously for the Lord, a person who is humble, gentle and patient.  One who simple is the good.  God's good.

This deep mission has allowed me to self check and grow.  It reminds me to try and be that person above and to raise my children up to have those character traits.  So I'm creating a challenge.  It's a challenge to teach our kids how to serve which doesn't come easy.  To teach our children how to be the good in this world that our world so desperately needs right now.  A challenge to train them up to be men and women who think of God, others and then themselves.  A mission to move beyond us and focus on others.

"Direct your children onto the right path, and when they are older, they will not leave it."  -  Proverbs 22:6

The Challenge:
It's a simple act of kindness each week to a member in our society whether it be the postman, police officer, garbage man or our local barista.  It's a simple craft (pinterest inspired but easily doable because of have a 5 and 3 year old) that you go hand deliver and say thank you or drop off with a special note.  It's a challenge to show that our simple act of kindness can make a huge impact in the lives of those that surround us.  It's a way to teach our children to think beyond themselves and to serve others.  A way to show them how their words and actions have a lasting impact.

BeTheGoodChallenge

Tested
Our family did this last year and it was amazing to see the excitement in their eyes (most of the time) and in the individuals who received the crafts.   The people in our community loved it.  And I mean LOVED it.  The police officer gave us a tour and the kids got to sit in the squad car, (I think Steve was jealous), the fireman showed us the trucks, the barista and bakery hung up the crafts all summer long, (our kids loved seeing that), the garbage man personally walked our bins up the driveway, we got a letter for the president and our Mayor stopped by to thank the kids!  This just shows how out of the ordinary Acts of Kindness are, which is rather sad.  So let’s make this the norm.  Let’s raise our children up to where serving others is normal.  And just maybe it will rub off on our hearts as well.

How to join?
There is no entry.  Just check back on my blog every Monday (that's my goal) starting June 5th! Each blog post will have the challenge and craft along with other ideas (if I can think of them)

The Craft
I'm a creative person but not a crafty person.  I will not have step by step instructions or a how to.  All crafts will be simple enough where you can figure this out on your own.  They'll also use items you mostly like all have in your craft drawer -  I have a list of items below. My goal is for this craft to be more about the purpose and less about the look.  The craft I list can be a launching point.  Adapt it, build upon in, or simplify it.  Or just color a picture or bake cookies.  I mean who doesn’t love that!  (want additional ideas, visit our pinterest board.)

Supplies
Construction paper-all colors, paper plates, Q-tips, popsicle sticks, paint, markers, buttons, tissue paper, beads, eye ball beads, pom-poms,  straws, whole coffee beans (but not necessary), cupcake liners and glitter if you want to get real fancy.  Glitter however gives me a heart-attack so we'll keep it dull in this household.

Time Table
It's a summer project created for a purpose, so each Monday during June, July and August I will have the Be His Good challenge.   Then I pray you love it so much it becomes a life-long weekly goal, or even daily to make a lasting impact in those around you.

Hashtag
#BeHisGood - take a pick and share with us on Facebook and Instagram.  This allows us to see and encourage and you to help spread the word.  However, not all people like to post about their daily tasks, if so, feel free to email me at carly@sixnotesclothing.com and I would gladly post you on our facebook page or instagram stories.

And if you are a planner… here is what the summer will look like.
June 12th – Flower Shop,
June 19th – Fire Department,

July 3rd – Librarians  or just to a family or friend if you are traveling for the holidays,
July 10th – Local and National Leaders,

Additional ideas:
City Bus Drivers, Pediatricians, Nurses, Bus Boys, Waitresses, Construction Workers,  Neighbors, your neighbor’s dog.  Think anyone people…

Not feelin’ crafty:

A Life Worthy of Your Calling

I re-read one of my favorite passages this week. This time when reading I read the study notes in my NLT bible that help us dive deeper.  I loved it and wanted to share it with you. It's a simple self check but a great challenge to us.

"Therefore, I, a prisoner for serving the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling for you have been called by God."  Ephesians 4:1

Notes:
God has chosen us to be Christ's representatives on earth. In light of this truth, the apostle Paul (author) challenges us to live lives worthy of the calling we have received-the awesome privilege of being called Christ's very own. This includes being humble, gentle, patient, understanding, and peaceful.

People are watching your life. Can they see Christ in you? How well are you doing as Christ's representative?

Praying for us all to live a life worthy of God's calling.
Carly

He Remains Faithful

A simple passage for you, but one that hits home...

If we die with him,

We live with him.

If we endure hardships,

We will reign with him.

If we deny him,

He will deny us.

If we are unfaithful,

He remains faithful, for he cannot deny who he is.

2 Timothy 2:11-13

This truth runs throughout the whole bible,  God was, still is and will always be faithful.  He is our constant. Grab hold of him to feel his faithfulness every single day.

Chosen with and Unfailing Love - Our New Wraps

I'll be honest... most of the time this is not a planned out business.  In fact, I go against what most corporate professionals believe in.  I have no marketing plan, financial budget, I don't have a 1 year, 5 year, 10 year vision... in fact I don't even have goals listed out.

It drives my husband bonkers.

Seriously it does.

But I've learned to follow my heart and when an idea is put on my heart and stays on my heart, I feel it's God leading and we do it.  Sometimes is a vision that comes and I act on it right away.  Other times, it takes time to come to life.

These bracelet wraps took time.

But time that was well worth it.  I wanted to create a piece of jewelry to embody a message beyond just the words and into the design. I wanted the act of putting it on to be as much of a reminder as the words stamped on it.  Enter - our wraps.

BEYOND THE MESSAGE:

As women so often we feel unworthy and not enough. We feel this because we look to other sources other than our main source... our Heavenly Father. So these wraps represent God taking hold of us, wrapping himself around us, taking us by the hand and leading us. He has an unfailing love for each and every one of us and he has chosen us to be His daughters. His royal heirs.   We are the chosen daughters of the one true mighty King.  A King that will love us into eternity with an unfailing love.

So when you wrap these bracelets around your wrist, remember that. Find your worth there. Feel His enough.

"Even before he made the world, God loved us and CHOSE us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes." - Ephesian 1:4

"Let your UNFAILING LOVE surround us Lord, for our hope is in you alone." - Psalm 33:22

And a huge thank you to Create Hope Cuffs for bringing this vision to life.  Make sure and give her a follow.
