Too often we forget that we exist for His glory and not our own. Be reminded today and always you are who you are and you do what you do to glorify Him and Him alone.
That's a Wrap
These last three days of emails and blog posts have been a ride. I've had so much fun sharing with you all why we started, the meaning of our name Six Notes, the FAQs and some highlighted thoughts. All the while taking a look back on all our apparel lines and photoshoots. Those you had to visit the blog for.
Your words of encouragement these last few days have been overwhelming as well. I pray our hearts always stay focused on our mission in sharing God's word through apparel. We need reminders of His word more than ever. Reminders that keep our focus on Him. He is the reason we exist. He is the reason we have breath in our lungs, purpose in life, and hope for a future. He is the reason we will have life eternal.
Keep your eyes fixed on Him.
And thank you for your constant support.
The Honest Thoughts
Clearly we believe in the transforming power of God's word even when it comes to wearing His word. But we are realistic and realize not everyone has the same thoughts and feelings as we do. Here's the thing though... we've never had a negative review when it comes to that. Yes we've had the "You are way too expensive." or the "yeah... that styles isn't for me." or even the "whoa... that's a lot of pink." But most people will agree that they love wearing scripture and the hope and encouragement behind it.
One of my favorite stories was from a long time customer. She messaged me that her father passed away unexpectedly the week of our Spring Launch. She bought over half our items that week because they brought her so much comfort and hope. Granted I was beyond sad for her but I felt so blessed that we could be such a small part in her healing process of such a great loss.
Another story is of a girl who bought a shirt. She came back just moments later after buying it and exclaimed how "fired up" she was again to be a Christian. Wearing His word reignited her fire for Christ.
Then there's a woman who bought our Courageous top. She says every time she puts that on she gets an added bounce to her step knowing that "she can" because she has a power far greater on her side.
I could go on and on but I'll just let you read the Facebook reviews. I love reading them and seeing how wearing God's word has impacted you. His word is amazing. It's powerful. And it changes when we clothe ourselves in it. The clothing is just a piece of fabric, it's nothing special. But when you add the power of God's word to it. It changes everything.

Questions We Get Asked
If you've read the last few posts, you now know why we started and the meaning behind Six Notes. Those are the 2 main questions that we receive from you all. Below are other questions that we get asked:
How do you come up with the verses and designs?
Most of the verses are my personal favorites. Like 1 Corinthians 16: 13-14, Ephesians 3:18, Isaiah 55:9, Ephesians 4:23 and countless others. Some are from my morning reads or sermons I've listened to that all of a sudden sound great on a tee like Philippians 4:13 or Ephesians 3:20-21. Then there are a few friends have suggested, Psalm 46:10, Proverbs 31:25, and Psalm 100:5.
As for designs, we stick to scripture and keep it simple. We also love designing with a play on words. For example, our hats have the verse "His ways our higher than my ways, His THOUGHTS higher than MY THOUGHTS." Get it... hat, head, thoughts. Or our sunglasses. Fixing your eyes on Jesus. Eyes... sunglasses. Yes pun is totally intended.
Where are you located?
Minnesota! We sell mostly through our website and are in a few boutiques. For wholesale information, email carly@sixnotesclothing.com
How come no returns?
When starting Six Notes, we asked a few people who have been in the business for a while some of our biggest obstacles we would encounter. Returns and exchanges was always mentioned for the time and expense. I can handle the expense but time I cannot. Time is precious to us right now with a young family. So we try hard to note manufacturer product dimensions under each item listed. We also have a sizing page available.
When do you work?
This usually comes after they realize I stay home with our three kids. I try to work during nap time but now that my two older don't nap, it's a little trickier. It's not as fruitful as it used to be considering one of them comes into the office every 2 minutes either telling on the other or in need of a snack. Luckily, my content development is really just my morning devotion time. I share what I learned from that day! My orders are completed at night or with the kids.
Whenever I work I try and remember though that they are my first job.
Who's your Photographer?
I get this a lot as people LOVE our photos. With each line launch Sweet Sisters Photography captures that goodness. Then another friend will capture more of our devotional photos. I just know I'm super duper lucky to have great friends who willingly help out on this mission.
How do you find your models?
They are all my friends! Or friends of friends. That's what I love most about our photos. They are just real every day people.
What's your goal?
This usually is asked when they want to know where I want to take Six Notes. Like do I have a business plan? A five year plan? The answer... no and no. I think it drives some people crazy but I feel that when I start to make too many plans, I lose out on God's leading. I have ideas that I think would be cool but no plans or goals.
I've also never been one to set goals. If I want to do something, I just do it and see where I can take it. And right now with my life with three young kids, I just take what I can do when I can do it. What I think is more than awesome about Six Notes is that it's growing and impacting people and it's with very little of my effort. It makes me realize that when you follow God's leading, God will make it happen.
And if you have any more questions, comment below and we'd love to answer them

So What Exactly Does Six Notes Mean?
A lot!
It's the backbone of who we are.
In our previous post I told you how we started with a faithful leap with an idea of setting out reminders. But we were operating under my graphic design company, carly d design. This didn't represent or tell anyone who and what we were as a company so we rebranded. One passage that I kept coming back to was Deuteronomy 6:5-9.
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.
The first verse about how to love God with all your heart, soul and strength drew me in. But the rest of that passage hooked me. It was what told me the applicable action steps to get to that deep relationship with God. Loving Him with all that we are.
To love God and follow His commands we needed to impress His word on our heart. We needed to do more than just read it, we needed to study it, learn it, and live it. And one way to live out His word is to talk about it. It also says to tie them to your hands and bind them to our foreheads... well, they may have actually done this in ancient Hebrew times or maybe even today for those who practice traditional Judaism but probably not for us in our cultural context. So we need to figure out why they did this. Well, they did this to tangibly remind them of God, His Commands and His word. These symbols were meant to constantly draw them closer to God. To live in a constantly relationship with Him. Not just in the mornings but all day every day no matter what.
When thinking about how we wanted to create our Business around this passage, we needed to think about a way we set our reminders in our current day. When I need to be reminded of something, I take out my pencil, a handy Post-It note, and start my list. The idea of Notes came to mind and we fell in love with the new business name Six Notes Clothing.
As for the logo, we worked with a small business owner on the idea of combining and S for Deut. 6 and N for Notes. But it wasn't quite working. Then through sketching one day, we worked out a 6 and the tip of a pencil to represent "Notes!" This is now our current and forever logo and brand.
So if you thought it was a "V" you now know it's a pencil tip ;)
Don't worry, you weren't the only one.
