We wanted to share with you all a new member to the Six Notes Family… Baby Cru.
Worry and pride
Well, if this quote below just doesn’t hit home with most of us.
Worry and the need to control. A struggle we all battle at times if not every day. Take this quote as a gentle challenge, a whisper of hope. Give your worries to God. Battle your pride. Rest in His presence knowing that He is sovereign and in control.
Let go and trust Him.
Matthew 6:19-21 Study - Treasures.
Our new wallets are coming out that we designed the wallet to remind us of Matthew 6:20-21.
“But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
As with all our products we put a mini devotional together for you. Our products and our mission are to create reminders of God’s word throughout our day and draw us back to Him.
Mini Devotion:
In Matthew 6 Jesus is nearing the end of his famous Sermon on the Mount. A message all about how it looks to follow him and how it looks to live in God’s Kingdom. A new kind of kingdom. An upside down kingdom where there are no privileged members . Jesus’ mission is to transform the hearts of the people so they can truly love their King – God and his people.
In our passage 6:19-21 Jesus addresses the heart and our treasures. We have a choice between two treasures. Earthly and Heavenly, you can’t “serve” both. Earthly treasures fade and are temporary, like money, success or material items. But heavenly treasures last forever. And what we treasure the most controls us. Jesus urges us to keep our eyes fixed on those heavenly treasures. Things eternal for it’s those heavenly treasures that last forever and bring enjoyment now.
Jesus gives us clues to those heavenly treasures as he continues on in the passage. It’s giving, fellowship, serving, trust and seeking Him first among other heavenly treasures. Our prayer as you use this wallet is to look beyond the earthly treasures and to focus your heart on the good that can be done for the Kingdom of God. May our hearts rest there.
Bible Study List: Reading Plans and One Day Studies
Over the years we’ve developed a few Bible Studies. Or Dive Deeper studies is what we like to call them. So to help you in your quest to read and get to know God more, we’ve combined many of them into this post for you to choose with links to each study. (Just click on the image.)
Every study varies. Some were written with a specific “life” event in mind like an election. Others, around a specific word in the Bible that jumped out at us and begged us to dive deeper. And others we were asked to write by a specific blogger like our Easter Reading. Whatever the study may be we hope you find them beneficial in your walk with Jesus. Our goal in writing is to help you fall in love with the Bible. God’s word. It’s the greatest story ever told about the greatest “person” whoever walked this earth.
We’ve broken them down into two sections:
Reading Plans
One day studies
We urge you to “pin” this post to save the studies for later!
Reading Plans:
One Day Studies
This study is taken from our Easter Reading Plan. But it is so beneficial in understanding the Gospels and who they are writing to and the purpose behind their writing.
Immanuel - The Meaning
In Matthew 1:23 it shares the fulfillment of the Messianic Prophecy of Isaiah in 7:14.
”See, the virgin will become pregnant and give birth to a son, and they will name him Immanuel.
which is translated to “God with us.”
This message was told in Joseph’s angelic dream, that all him and Mary are experiencing is to fulfill the scriptures! There is so much packed into this dream, but one I want is to focus on is this word Immanuel.
Immanuel. God with us. This baby. Our Savior is to be God. Yet he will be fully human and with us. He is the Savior stated in verse 21 who will save his people, not just God’s chosen Jewish people, but his people, all people from their sins. And not just from their sins but also the power of sin and the presence and penalty of sin.
This baby is God in the flesh. Fully human and fully God. Who knew no sin from the start because he was FROM God. And would live a life of no sin because he IS God.
Do not let this word Immanuel just become another pretty word during Christmas. It has deep meaning and great impact for us! It’s powerful!
Reflect on the beauty of this word when you sing it’s Christmas Carol this year. Immanuel. GOD with us and God WITH us.
Amen.
